The True Meaning of Eid ul-Adha: Takbir, Not Sacrifice

Introduction

Takbir: Realizing the Magnitude of Allah

Allah created the universe. The moons, the planets, the stars, and the galaxies all prostrate out of His fear. There is not a single thing in existence that does not serve Allah, willingly or unwillingly.

Allah says ⟪Do you not see that to Allah prostrates whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth and the sun, the moon, the stars, the mountains, the trees, the moving creatures and many of the people?⟫ (22:18)

True takbir is to attempt with our limited minds to consider the magnitude of Allah. It is impossible to completely comprehend his greatness, but some people understand the greatness of Allah more than others.

When believers consider the magnitude of Allah, they no longer rely on anything but Allah, they no longer doubt the coming help of Allah, and they never prioritize anything more than Allah.

How can you prioritize anything more than Allah when the earth will be held in Allah’s grip and the heavens will be rolled up in Allah’s hand on the Day of Judgement? Consider the size of anything you think has priority over Allah and consider how insignificant it is inside the universe, and the whole universe will be rolled up like scrolls for the Day of Judgement.

How can you prioritize anything more than Allah when Allah created the sun and earth, his two servants, that revolve around each other and rotate so that you have a time for sleep and a time for work.
